lately

so lately i have been very busy. (if you count being busy relaxing, which i think should).

i've decided not to go back to school this year, a decision which doesn't really make anybody happy. don't get me wrong, i'm very excited to have a break from writing papers, studying, going to class, etc... but, i also need to feel that i'm doing something worthwhile. and i am. i'm getting married in march! i don't want to sound naieve, but planning a wedding is a lot more work than i expected. nate and i are overwhelmed all the time now by reception sites, honeymoon plans and the like.

nate just moved into the apartment that will be our first home, which has been really exciting. unpacking everything hasn't been easy, and we already have an "issue" with our nosy landlord...great.

i have a new job at a coffeehouse, which is exciting. i'm training to be a manager. overall, i really like my job, but it's very exhausting. not because the work is difficult at all, but because my shift usually starts at 5 am. it's not easy waking up at 4:15 in the morning to go to work. it actually sucks, but everytime i start thinking about that at say, 5:30 when customers are running towards me, desparately seeking their first cup of coffee, i look down at the most beautiful ring in the world, and remember why i am there.

i also started babysitting today at amanda's church. it's every tuesday morning for the year. i love children.

one of the things i'm most excited about is helping out lindy scott out on his campaign for congress. he's a really strong candidate, which is what we need to beat stupid peter roskam. lindy's website is www.scottforcongress.net. you all should check it out, and vote on election day. i'm meeting with him later today, so he can find out how we can best use my talents. doesn't he look like just the nicest man?

i just finished devil in the white city, and i'm now reading the time traveller's wife, both books are ones that i've wanted to read for about a year.

go cubs!
