etsy and a re-designed craft room!

Exciting news! I recently opened an etsy shop! My shop name is kimeknits (in keeping with the spirit of the blog). I may be slow to add new items, I've never done this before, but I am excited to begin.

I find that I derive a huge amount of pleasure out of a well-organized room. Two weeks ago, I finally got around to re-doing my craft room. I took out a huge desk that was an oversized catch-all and replaced it with an old kitchen cart we had in the basement. I love having the extra space in there - finally a place to actually work on projects!

I also added a new cabinet to hold all of my fabric and most of my other crafting supplies. Thanks to my Dad for finding the cabinet, as well as building the shelves! Filling up the cabinet was extremely satisfying - it turned out just as I imagined it! Isn't it lovely when everything works out?!

I've really been trying to keep up with my knitting as warm weather approaches. This year, I really don't want to slow down on working on new projects and using up my stash just because it will soon be summer. Here's my most recent finished project - a baby sweater for my co-worker's new baby. The Seamless Yoked Baby Sweater is especially beautiful to knit because of the simplicity of the pattern's instructions.

These knitting badges are from the folks over at Cast On that I could proudly wear myself. They represent promoting knitting in a positive way, "MacGyver" skills, math in patterns prowess, and knitting under the influence. I need more badges!

Banned Books

I love lists and I love books - what could be better than a list of books? Nothing! I really can't believe that banned books are still an issue. I have already read a good number of books on this list, but not enough. So now, just like my AFI movies, I am going to begin working on this list of banned books from the American Library Association. So far I have read 29 of the 100. I'm really looking forward to expanding my bookshelves with what I'm sure will be some new favorites.
